Long division 除法竖式

Column division这种说法也可以接受，但不如long division常用。

To do long division, let's start by drawing the long division symbol.

做除法竖式之前先画好除法竖式符号。

We can do that by drawing a right parenthesis

咱们可以画一个右半边的括号，

and a line above it that sticks out to the right.

然后在它上面画一条线向右延伸。

We stick the dividend inside the symbol,

咱们把被除数写在符号里，

like a person in a house.

好像一个人在房子里。

The divisor goes to the left of the parenthesis,

除数在括号的左边，

like he's knocking on the door.

好像他在敲门。

Let's do the math now.

现在咱们来做数学题。

First, we'll divide the first digit, 7, by 3.

首先，我们用3除第1位，7。

It's not perfectly divisible by 3,

它不能被3整除，

so we choose the closest number that is less than 7,

所以我们选择最接近且比7小，

and is a multiple of 3,

而且是3的倍数的数，

which is 6.

是6。

So, we write a 6 under the 7.

所以，我们把6写在7下面。

Multiply 3 by 2 to get 6,

3乘以2等于6，

so write a 2 above the 7.

所以我们在7上面写2。

Now, looking back at the 7 and 6,

现在，回过头看7和6，

we will subtract the 6 from the 7,

我们用6去减7，

and write a 1 underneath a line.

在一条线下写一个1。

Now, bring the 4 down beside the 1.

现在，把4挪下来写在1旁边。

14 is also not perfectly divisible by 3,

14不能被3整除，

so the next best thing is 12.

所以最佳选择是12。

Write 12 under the 14

在14下面写12，

and write 4 above the 4

在4上面写4，

because 3 x 4 = 12.

因为3 x 4 = 12。

Next, we'll subtract 12 from 14

然后，我们用12去减14，

and have a final remainder of 2.

得到最终的余数2。

The answer is a quotient of 24 and a remainder of 2.

答案是商24余2。
