不定冠词的特殊用法总结

一 、同一个还是有两个？

and 连接两个单数名词时，是表示一个人或物？还是表示两个人或物？关键得看有几个a。

（1）一个a，指同一个

例：He is a painter and teacher.

他是一位画家兼老师。

I have a red and blue bag.

我有一个红蓝相间的书包。

（2）两个a，指两个

例：A painter and a teacher are coming.

一个画家和一位老师要到这来。

I have a red and a blue bag.

我有一个红色的书包和一个蓝色的书包。

二、成对的东西，一副，一套该怎么表达？

像我们平时用的成对出现的事物，通常被视为一套，一体的，一般只用一个不定冠词。

knife和fork是成对出现的，“一副刀叉”所以是：a knife and fork。像这样的还有：

a bow and arrow一副弓箭

eg:

He was armed with a bow and arrow.

他佩带着弓箭。

a coat and tie一套上装和领带

eg:

Wearing a coat and tie is an accepted convention on such an occasion.

在那种场合，穿外套系领带是约定俗成的穿着要求。

a cup and saucer带茶托的茶杯

eg:

There is also a large china tea cup and saucer with a matching pot fashioned in the shape of a cabbage leaf.

上面还放着一个大的瓷器茶杯，和一个配套的时尚甘兰叶形状的茶托。

a watch and chain带表链的表

eg:

A watch and chain was found on the desk.

一只挂表在桌上找到了。

a needle and thread 针线

eg:

Have you got a needle and thread here?

你这里有针线吗？

a dustpan and brush 簸萁和扫帚

eg:

I bought a dustpan and brush.

我买了一套簸箕和扫帚。
